Karen O – Stop the Virgens

Although KTL is primarily a hip-hop lifestyle blog, any one who’s been to the site knows that I am giant Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Karen O fan. This is her new “musical” (?) based off a secret solo album she did in 2005. Read up on it here.

DJ Franchise X Moxsie.com – Muse Music (mix)

I teamed up with one of the leading sites for independent fashion, Moxsie.com, to give you a mix to salute to the women of style who make our lives inspirational. Partnering with Moxsie for this mix was an easy decision: we both have forward-thinking fanbases, we appreciate the eclectic individuality of great style, and we both support the independent spirit/hustle of world-class talent. “Muse Music” is a soundtrack for you to appreciate the women who inspire you and give your style a chance to break from the norm. Enjoy! Props to AMART for the support. ┬áTracklisting after the jump.

Where The Wild things Are – Soundtrack

This 14 track compilation was recommended to me by my brother Anthony. Being a fan of Spike Jonze (except for that last Kanye video) and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, I had high hopes for the soundtrack. Karen O takes the feel and energy of the movie and magically captures the sonic emotions of the film. With help from fellow indie rockers, Karen O provides a strong but somewhat short score for the movie that is accurately epitomized in the trailers. I haven’t felt like a movie incorporated a contemporary artist to score a soundtrack since Aimee Mann w/ Magnolia. BTW, are Karen O and Spike Jonze still together?

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Maps (live on SNL)

Fav band outside of Hip-Hop, aside from Rage Against The Machine. Forever grateful to my brother, Anthony, for putting me on. YYYs know their discography and knew what to play for SNL. Album out soon and I predict Coachella will not be the same after they perform. Props to heather for the find!
