Roc Raida Tribute (Brooklyn Bowl)

In celebration of Roc Raida, a few DJs (uhhh A-Trak, Craze, Premier, Total Eclipse) came through and rocked some amazing sets for the fallen X-Man. This vid shows higlights from the show but also some cool interviews about their feelings regarding the Roc Raida. On the DJ topic, Master of The Mix is sucks. The show was notable but mediocre last season. Amber Rose as a judge and the slew of “real world failures” DJs is horrible. Much respect to Total Eclipse on the show but everyone else can get got.

Dame, Preemo, and Pete Rock

DJ PREMIER AND PETE ROCK VISIT DD172, PART 1 from DD172 on Vimeo.

Dame, Premier, and Pete Rock meet up at Dash’s new art gallery/studio, DD172, for a photoshoot. Cool conversation. Highlights are the constant weed-relevant conversations and the cultural differences of working together in the past versus the current state. (source)

Bun B – Let ‘Em Know (Produced by DJ Premier)

For Bun’s new album, he got Primo to lace him with a track.  Bun has been on some Termanology joints that Primo has produced but none for his solo efforts, so this was a nice change of pace.  I think the two go well together on a track.  Primo also did a superb job with his scratch hook for the song, which includes Pimp C (RIP).  This track sparked a twitter conversation of MCs that should have a Primo joint but still haven’t.  My inclusions to the list were Ghostface, Black Thought, and Slick Rick.  Feel free to share yours.  Thanks to TSS for the link.

DJ Premier – On The Road Again (mix)

Primo just released a quick mix for all of those interested in what he’s playing right now. Some great underground and street hop for your headphones.  I was happy to see Royce, Raekwon, and the Clipse in the set. Its one long mp3 but don’t complain – its still good music. Spotted at Space Ballin’. Tracklisting after the jump.

The Wake Up Show w/ Gangstarr

gangstarrlegos

I was able to track down an April 2003 Wake Up show w/ Guru and Premier on it. I didn’t hear this live but remember a few friends years ago discussing it on the internets.  This is right before The Ownerz album dropped, if I am not mistaken. They go over many a moments such as the demos and first starting to how Primo got his name.  OF course, they also cut up and mix all of the Gangstarr Classics.  Enjoy!

Smirnoff X Hip-Hop

Smirnoff and Cornerstone Promotions are promoting their new Smirnoff Signature Mix drinks. For this campaign Common and Just Blaze will remake “The Light,” Q-tip and Cool n Dre will redo Tribe’s “Midnight,” and KRS-One and DJ Premier will make a new version of “Criminal Minded.” The latter is the one I am most excited about. Nike and Hip-Hop (via Just Blaze and Primo) were a good team, let’s see if Smirnoff can reach that standard.

All of the artists will be perform their classics live at the Smirnoff/Cornerstone launch party on Feb, 26th. The actual remakes will be available as a free download on Smirnoff.com later. Stay tuned for more info. Speaking of info, this was all due to Miss Info. One day we will make her blogroll. (hint, hint)

Termanology The Sequel

term1

A grip of people have been responding to me directly about another Term post. The boy is nice and smart with his production choices. I really haven’t heard a bad verse from him and he’s just starting. Being Latino and a tad political doesn’t hurt my bias. So enjoy these treats!

Statik Selektah – Express Yourself (feat. Termanology, Talib Kweli, Consequence)

Termanology – Watch How It Go Down Remix (feat. MOP)

Statik Selektah – Stop, Look, Listen (feat. Styles P, Termanology, Q-Tip)
