Elliot Wilson got a chance to speak to the Chef about his growing up “Wu” and the work behind his latest project, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang. This is an excerpt from the RESPECT magazine interview. Which is one the few print mags I still effs with. Props to RR for the link. If you want another dope interview w/ Rae, check out The Rap-Up’s one-on-one.
Busta sits down with Elliot Wilson (Rap Radar/RESPECT) to discuss his trials and journey in his 20+ year old career in hip-hop for RESPECT magazine. A really great read that discloses the break up of LONS from his side and the realities of his career at such a young age. Really enlightening. Take a gander after the jump.
Elliot Wilson, editor-in-chief of RESPECT magazine & RapRadar, was one of the few people to get an in-depth and telling interview with the enigmatic Jay Electronica. Beyond just scoring the interview, he got Jay to open up about life before Exhibit C and the trajectory of his rap career. Really good read. In a similar vein, salute to Combat Jack for heading and hoping to resurrect The Source. For the first time in over a decade, I might purchase an issue. Salute!
Trying to update you in the world of quality of hip-hop and the sociopolitics of the culture is daily task here at KTL. Along with Jay Smooth, Combat Jack & Dallas Penn provide the culture with commentary outside of the mixtape format. Every Thursday night from 12-2am EST (9-11 for us PSTers), CJ & DP talk the internets with deep concepts and crazy superficial topics. Admittedly, the first shows were rough but I saw the potential. This one with Elliot Wilson (Hip-Hop OG, current head of RESPECT magazine & RapRadar.com) is classic. Sidenote: glad they got rid of that annoying NY Delight girl. Smart move.
