The Beat Junkies – “For The Record” documentary

LRG teamed up with the Beat Junkies to produce a short documentary to commemorate the crew’s 20th year anniversary. As a DJ, much of how turntablism has evolved has been from how the Skratch Picklez took the world by storm and then how the Beat Junkies carried the torch. Seeing these men in action, is like watching the Avengers in real life. A true inspiration to all creatives, I am glad to see the Beat JUnkies shine in this vid. #salute

Roc Raida Tribute – Nov 2010

In LA this month, the remaining X-Men (pka The X-Ecutioners) and The Beat Junkies had a tribute for one of the best dudes to touch the decks. His videos and live performances were just inspiring. If I could be a hundredth of the DJ that Raida was, I would be happy w/ my life. Salute to Beat JUnkies and the other DJs that keep Roc’s legacy alive.

J. Dilla Stussy Documentary (Part 2)

Part 2 of Stussy’s Dilla Documentary. This part focuses a lot on Dilla’s move to LA and how it changed his sound. I definitely could empathize when Houseshoes mentions that floods make you want to start over and how Detroit sucks the life out of you. Cool thing I learned was the generational connections of musicians from Detroit to LA over the decades. I’ll post Part 3 soon.
