“Live Footage Plays Jay Dee”
Good friend, Jr-Flo of Keys N Krates, hit me up recently to this band from Brooklyn that embraces my love for hip-hop but is not restricted to the parameters of the genre. The level of instrumentation that Live Footage demonstrate as a duo is really impressive (one cello, one drummer, live loops). Although, the populous will warm up to them and their musical ideas through covers (Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Dilla), I think that you’ll really get to understand their creative direction when listening to their original work. With the “Jay Dee” mix, don’t expect to just hear a remake or karaoke version of Dilla, much more importantly, you’ll hear recreation and reinterpretation. Something that is no small feat.
Much like Keys N Krates, its exciting to see these guys on the bubble and know in a few short years (or less), these guys will be on every musical site/mag soon. Check out Live Footage at their website and click on the image above for the “Live Footage Plays Jay Dee” mix. Track-listing and video on the duo after the jump.
